All our wedding gifts had been stored at savannah’s mom’s house in Texarkana since before the wedding. Rather than try to move everything down to College Station and move it all together, we decided to go the UBOX route. A couple of our friends over at Doodles and Blooms had successfully used a UBOX moving to Oregon and it seemed like a great solution. Much like a pod, UHAUL will drop the box off in your driveway, allow you to load at your own pace, pick up the locked box, ship it anywhere and deliver it to your new place. There’s a 2000 lb limit, but since we were mostly shipping bubble wrap and a couple of pieces of furniture, that wasn’t much of an issue. Christmas Eve’s eve was spent re-bubble wrapping already wrapped china and packing it into larger boxes that were then loaded in the UBOX. The nearest UHAUL BOX handling facility was in Shreveport, and they did an excellent job scheduling pick-up and drop off–even on Christmas Eve! The box is already on its way to California and with any luck should be delivered to our driveway a couple of days after we arrive.
